Sherlock Returns this Sunday

This Sunday, January 1st, Sherlock returns to PBS for the first of (possibly the last) three new episodes.

You can check out the ominous and excellent trailer here.

Holiday Season on PBS

This Christmas, PBS viewers can enjoy a Call the Midwife holiday special on December 25th and a one-off Sherlock episode (the Abominable Bride) on January 1st.

The return of Idris Elba in Luther should also be available from BBC America after its broadcast on December 17th.
Happy viewing!

New Sherlock Clip!

Check out the brief clip here.

Sherlock is due to return to PBS/BBC for a standalone Special and a new series of three episodes. No airdate has been mentioned yet beyond a “coming soon-ish”, although the snow in the clip makes me wonder if the Special might air during the holiday season.

Soon-ish might not be soon enough for fans but it’s certainly better than nothing! I’ll send along more details as they become available.

Holiday Season on the BBC

The BBC is cramming a lot of excellent drama into the end of this year and the beginning of the next.

Last Tango in Halifax will complete its second series on December 24th, Call the Midwife has its Christmas special on the 25th, the adaptation of P.D. James’ Death Comes to Pemberley will air its three episodes on December 26th, 27th and 28th, and on December 30th will be the one-off adaptation of mystery novel, The Thirteenth Tale, starring Olivia Colman and Vanessa Redgrave.

Now for the new year — not only is Sherlock returning on New Year’s Day, but episode two (John’s wedding!) will follow quickly on the 5th.  On January 6th, Father Brown returns for the first of 10 new episodes, with a new episode airing each weekday afternoon.  Also returning in the first week of January is long-running series Silent Witness.

Happy Holidays!

New Sherlock Trailer

In case you’ve somehow missed it, here’s the new trailer for season 3.  Sherlock returns two years after his supposed death when London is under threat of an imminent terrorist attack.  It looks as if slipping back into his old life is not going to be as easy as he expects.  Good stuff!

The first of the three new episodes will air January 1st on the BBC and January 19th on PBS.

Breaking News — Sherlock Season 3 Begins January 19th, 2014!

Fans rejoice.  The BBC may not have set a UK air date yet, but PBS has announced that the new, three episode, series of Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will begin airing on January 19th at 10pm.

BBC and ITV Fall/Winter Drama Trailers

You can see the ITV trailer here.  Watch for artful references to classic series of the past – Prime Suspect, Morse — as well as for glimpses of Vera, Whitechapel, The Bletchley Circle, Poirot, Downton Abbey…

The BBC’s promo is here and gives hints of Sherlock, Quirke, Ripper Street and much more.

Very slick and exciting!
