Grantchester Christmas Special

Filming will begin soon for 6 new Grantchester episodes and a Christmas special that will air this coming holiday season.

ITV promises “a festive, snow-filled Christmas episode full of emotion and drama.” Sounds good–even if probably not very holiday happy ending-y.

No word yet on a PBS transmission date.

Endeavour Returns to PBS

On Sunday, June 19th (aka Father’s Day), Endeavour returns to PBS for the first of 4 new episodes.  You can watch a series 3 preview here.

Other good news:  ITV has announced that there will be a series 4 of Endeavour.

Lewis – Not Over Yet!

Lewis will return to ITV (and undoubtedly PBS) for a ninth series. In a recent interview Kevin Whately revealed that filming for the new series will begin in May/June next year.

These new episodes, combined with a third series of Endeavour (already commissioned), will keep the Morse universe alive for at least another year.

Excellent!

Endeavour Will Return

After the cliff hanger at the end of the second series put Morse behind bars and Inspector Thursday near (please only near!) death, ITV was almost honor bound to commission another series. Still, it’s nice to make it official. Endeavour will return to ITV next year for four new episodes. No word yet on the state of Thursday’s health…

Also returning for another series is DCI Banks. DCI Banks and his team will tackle six new gloomy , and entertaining, Yorkshire-based crimes.

Miss Fisher Will Return!

Fans of the 1920s Melbourne based crime series, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, will be relieved to know that the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corp) has finally renewed the show for a third series. Filming is set to begin in the fall.

In the meantime, US fans can enjoy the first two seasons on Acorn TV or Netflix.

Coming Soon (ish) to PBS

These shows have already aired (or are currently running) in the UK, but US fans won’t have to wait for too long —

Series 3 of Call The Midwife will debut on March 30th.

The second series of The Bletchley Circle will begin on Sunday, April 13th.

Last Tango in Halifax, series 2, will air starting June 29th.
