Death Comes to Pemberley, Elementary, The Fall and Fortitude

The first of two episodes of Death Comes to Pemberley (the adaptation of P.D. James’ homage to Pride and Prejudice) aired on Sunday, October 26th on PBS.  The episode is available online here until November 10th – find out if Wickham is a killer or just a cad.

Also, although the year is rapidly winding down, there are still some shows to watch out for.

Fans of Lucy Liu and Jonny Lee Miller’s Watson and Holmes (or those who will take any kind of Sherlock that they can get) will be happy to know that Elementary returns for its third season this Thursday, October 30th.

Series two of the well-shot and acted (if disturbing) The Fall, begins on the BBC in the second week of November (exact date and time to be confirmed).

Finally, is Sky Atlantic’s 12 part series Fortitude, set in the arctic and staring, among other greats, Sofie Grabol, Michael Gambon and Stanley Tucci. Need I say more? True, it probably won’t air until January 2015, but it’s promising enough to deserve the extra anticipation time! Here’s the trailer.

Rhys Ifans to Play Mycroft on Elementary

CBS’s Elementary doesn’t have Benedict Cumberbatch or Martin Freeman but it does have charms of its own – namely the acting abilities of Jonny Lee Miller and the appealing chemistry between his Sherlock and Lucy Liu’s Watson.

The announcement that Rhys Ifans (think Hugh Grant’s peculiar flatmate in Notting Hill) has been cast to play Sherlock’s brother Mycroft is just one more reason to give the US reboot its own chance.

Mycroft will appear in the season two premiere which will be set in London and will see Sherlock and Watson staying at Mycroft’s 221B Baker Street address.
