Orphan Black Season 1 Available for free streaming today only

Not sure that clone drama is for you? For today only (Friday, April 17) Amazon is making the whole first season available for free streaming.

It’s worth a try even if you aren’t usually into science fiction type stuff because it’s also a great conspiracy thriller/mystery/character drama – not to mention a chance to enjoy Tatiana Maslany’s truly excellent performance(s).

Broadchurch and Foyle’s War

Foyle’s War will return to ITV for 3 new episodes starting Sunday, January 4th. US fans don’t have long to wait either, the new series will be available on Acorn TV from February 2nd.

On PBS, also on the 4th, will be the first new Downton Abbey episode.

The next night, January 5th, Broadchurch begins its eight-part series two. You can watch a promo here.

Finally, or firstly, don’t forget the Call the Midwife holiday special airing on December 25th on PBS. Here’s a preview.

Luther Returning to the BBC! (and much more)

Okay, it’s only for two, one hour episodes – but who cares! The new episodes won’t air until late next year, but Idris Elba is worth waiting for.

Also new next year will be: a four-parter dealing with murder in rural Scotland; a series that imagines a Scotland Yard detective working in a 1940s Nazi controlled London; a Brighton based ensemble cop show; an 1886 secret agent series; a contemporary political thriller; and a second series of Top of the Lake.

Great News – More Masterpiece in 2015!

Thanks to Masterpiece sponsor, Viking Cruises, there will be 20 more hours than usual of Masterpiece to enjoy next year. In addition to all of the returning favorites, starting on January 18th will be six-parter Grantchester, about a 1950s crime-solving vicar and, on April 5th, the first of six episodes of the adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s novel Wolf Hall.

New Downton Abbey Trailer

All of the well-groomed angst is set to return to ITV for series five starting September 21st. US viewers will have to wait until the PBS premiere on January 4th.

Our Zoo Coming Soon to BBC One

This looks like it could be good – Our Zoo is a six part series that follows the efforts of a traumatized war veteran (played by the excellent Lee Ingleby – think Inspector Gently’s sidekick) to open England’s first zoo without bars.
